Our Story
Loophole Wheels was never part of a business plan—it grew out of years of friendship, skateboarding, and being lucky enough to cross paths with people who shaped our lives.
Zach and I met in 2008 through our friend Evan Kinori. I was 18, living in Redwood City, and had recently dropped out of high school to spend my days skating the streets of San Francisco. Zach had moved from Portland in 2006 to experience San Francisco's skate scene.
Not long after we met, we found ourselves in the right place at the right time. We crossed paths with Matt Field, who welcomed us into the second coming of Rasa Libre. Being part of Matt's vision gave us some of the best experiences of our lives and showed us what skateboarding could be beyond simply riding a board—it was about community, creativity, and doing things your own way.
After Rasa Libre came to an end, we weren't sure what was next. From 2012 through 2014, we spent our summers traveling throughout Central America, skating, exploring, and meeting people along the way.
In early 2014, we met Long Island OG’s Steve Fletch and Mike Gigante, who had started Northern Co. Although Northern began as an East Coast company, it gradually became a San Francisco-based brand after Mike relocated west. Northern became another defining chapter in our skateboarding journey and introduced us to a whole new family of lifelong friends.
Then, in 2018, someone we knew started a wheel manufacturing factory in my hometown. At the same time, many of our closest friends were skating for different board companies. We realized there was an opportunity to create something that could bring more positive times and energy to friends and the skate community.
That's how Loophole Wheels was born.
From the very start, Loophole has been about supporting skateboarders, celebrating friendships, and making products we're proud to skate ourselves. Everything we do comes from a lifetime of experiences, the people who've inspired us, and a deep appreciation for the skate community that made us who we are.
